Forward thinking black metal by one of the genes originators , this one further refines the symphonic thrash approach of the last record. David Tibet (Current 93) contributed a great poem reading bit, book-ending the 'Musica in Tempora Belli' suite.

9th studio album by thrash metal titans Testament. Featuring Paul Bostaph (Slayer, Exodus, Forbidden) on drums alongside the original line-up of Chuck Billy, Eric Peterson, Alex Skolnick and Greg Christian. Like with Mekong Delta, I was asked to give my opinion when choosing between two optional album titles, as once again the artwork was conceived before the final lyric set. The album comes with a fully illustrated 20-page booklet, and a deluxe double digibook edition :

My second time working with MD. This record is going to be a fan favorite for sure, I've been listening to it quite often. Very strong vocal performance and the progressive arrangements are as great as ever.

Fans of later day Paradise Lost and Katatonia should take notice, this band adds a touch of alternative rock à la Muse into their brand of dark metal and Gothic rock. Recently gone on an indefinite hiatus, which is a shame as the just got better and better with each new release.

A real treat for fans of challenging extreme metal. Bathory-like vocals laid over a prog-rock/metal background, at times sounding eqaly as close to Cynic or Arcturus as it is to Roger Waters' solo records. There's even a country barn hoedown in here as well.

Debut release from Baliset, brainchild of former Kayo Dot & Maudlin of the Well axeman Greg Massi. Highly recommended for fans of Iron Maiden, Chroma Key, Anathema, and of course Greg's two equally great former bands.

The long awaited sophomore release from this Floridian tech metal band (Featuring Sean Reinert of Cynic/Death). Every piece was based on a concept given by Santiago Dobles , The band's founder and mainman. Production also handled by Santiago and mixing duties by Neil Kernon (Queensyche , Judas Priest , Nevermore etc.).

Third album by Czarl's further devolopment of the abstract sound he began forging in Ved Buens Ende. One of the most original riff composers this side of Voivod.

Fans of 'Symbolic'-era Death are advised to check out Israel's new export in the field of melodic death metal .

Much-anticipated sophomore effort from this Israeli Melodic black metal band.

Refreshing modern take on the traditional heavy metal sound, melodic vocals and warm earthy sounding drums, quite a cool record.

Progressive Metal/Hardcore from Minnesota. For fans of Dillinger Escape Plan and Botch.

Classic Thrash/Prog. The artwork was done before the final lyrics set (the front piece is based on H.P Lovecraft's short story 'Pickman's Model', which was suppose to be the original concept), so I was asked by to choose a new title between several suggestions, that would better fit the already done artwork. Perhaps my favorite band to ever come out of Germany, along with Depressive Age.

Another album with New York's Castrofate , this time a more melodic and alternative approach to hard rock / metal.
